Know Before You Buy - Maxcent Accent Mats
Size Variation
The manufacturing process of our mats subjects them to a variation in size of up to 3%.
Speckling
Maxcent mats are printed with a layered printing process that allows us to print in high-definition on carpet with great precision. Our special printers deliver different color ink droplets in layers which allows us to have a consistent and repeatable color process, but this process means that even solid colors aren’t “solid.” Light greige, for instance, is a mixture of beige, brown, grey, and blue – and all of those color droplets can be seen if you look closely enough at the zoom image in the carousel.
Color Variation
Maxcent mats are printed in batches. While our printing process is consistent, there are variables beyond our control (like temperature and humidity) that can cause slight variations in color from one print batch to the next. If you want multiples of a particular mat, it’s best to order them at the same time. Ordering the same mat days, weeks, or months apart will mean the mats are printed in different “batches” which increases the chance for color variation.
Shade Shifting
PET polyester carpet is eco-friendly, incredibly durable, and stain resistant. But it’s also highly reflective of light which can play tricks on your eyes with colors/shading. How much light the fibers of the carpet reflect can vary dramatically based on which direction they are leaning – which means that a mat may look lighter from one direction and darker from the other (think about how you can see the vacuum cleaner marks in your carpet based on the direction the cleaner was moving over that spot).
Vinyl Floors?
Our mats feature high-quality rubber backing to aid in both durability and performance. Rubber is safe more most floor types including hardwoods, ceramic and porcelain tile, natural stone, concrete, and some vinyl. If you have vinyl flooring (LVT/LVP, sheet vinyl, vinyl tile), please refer to your manufacturer’s care guide. Some vinyl flooring contains plasticizers that may leach out over time and react with rubber and other substances which could result in discoloration. If your flooring manufacturer instructs you to specifically avoid rubber, we encourage you to heed their warning.
